Epic Games has snatched up another one this time, and it’s a big fish.
Rocket League developer Psyonix will be joining the fray as Epic Game’s newest acquirement. Psyonix has been officially acquired by Epic games and the deal will complete by early June based on the press release details.
From this statement, Psyonix seems to be happy with the move. Of course, there’s gotta be some incentive involved for this transition. Epic has been known to be very good at poaching, so one can only guess why they’re doing this. Based on the developer, they claim they’re trying to expand their esports ecosystem by using potential resources that Epic provides.
There are currently 132 employees at the developer’s HQ in San Diego, CA. And the team will expand even after Epic buys them out. Epic Games will have the PC version available in 2019, until then, you can get it on Steam.
Of course, after the game gets pulled from Steam, it’ll oNly be on Epic. Psyonix also said they’d stop supporting the game on Steam for all existing owners.
Update:
Psyonix released the following statement regarding Steam and Rocket League:
“We are continuing to sell Rocket League on Steam, and have not announced plans to stop selling the game there. Rocket League remains available for new purchasers on Steam, and long-term plans will be announced in the future”
Who knows how this will affect Steam? Content update priority on Epic Games? Not surprising if that’s what happens. They didn’t say anything about updates- just sales.

I specialize in indie games as I think they don’t get the attention they deserve. I’m just your typical consumer who has some opinions to share. I’ve been reviewing games since I was 12. I started out reviewing them with friends on old forums that now no longer exist. Then I went to online VoDs, which I’ve lost interest in.
