Resident Evil, RE: 0, and RE: 4 coming to the Nintendo Switch

Resident Evil, RE: 0, and RE: 4 coming to the Nintendo Switch 1

Capcom USA announced a new trio of Resident Evil games for the Nintendo Switch. The tweet stated that a new slew of titles will be ported to the Switch throughout 2019, with more information about the games coming soon.

The titles are as follows:

  • Resident Evil
  • Resident Evil 0
  • Resident Evil 4

These titles will be joining the already released Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 on the Switch that are already released to the console representing the most popular horror franchise of all time. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will also roll out on the Switch in Japan via streaming.

Resident Evil was the game that launched the whole zombie horror genre and defined the genre, arguably, for the PlayStation way back in 1996. The original game was given a remastered re-released in 2002 for GameCube. The game is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Resident Evil 0 is the fifth main entry in the long-running series and serves as a prequel to the original Resident Evil. The game was released for GameCube initially and was given an HD remaster and released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The remastered of RE: 0 and RE are also available as the Resident Evil Origins Collection of specific consoles.

Resident Evil 4 is probably the best of the series and the most popular with all-star Leon Kennedy. The game helped bring the series back to the survival horror genre that Capcom strayed from. Released in 2005 for GameCube, it was later ported to the PlayStation 2 and was also ported again and again for later generations. The game can be played on basically every console besides the 3DS- even mobile devices.

Capcom hasn’t said anything about the upcoming 2019 remaster of Resident Evil 2 for the Switch at at this time. Stay tuned for some spooky details.
