Ape Escape 4? Or Ape Escape reboot/remaster?

The Ape Escape rumors are exciting the crowds worldwide.

Sony Japan created a new Twitter account with nothing but a screenshot of one of the apes and a caption which translates to:

“Twenty years since then. I’ve been running around for a long time, but I wonder if there is anyone out there to chase…?”

This of course had Ape Escape fans going bananas, as they’re all pretty much speculating a new Ape Escape game at this point. The first tweet of the account shows one of the apes hiding behind a tree.

The fact that the caption posted with the screenshot states “but I wonder if there is anyone out there to chase…?” makes us think that the ape is still looking for that next target, which only could mean another Ape Escape game.

Ape Escape was developed by SCE Japan Studio and published by SCE back in 1999 for the PlayStation. Ape Escape 2 was released last year on the PS Now subscription, so there’s still some demand for the game and relevancy even for a game that’s two decades old.

The quote is actually in reference to a JP-only game released on the Piposaru 2001 series. The first Ape Escape game came out on 6/24/1999, so today marks the anniversary for the original game. This ties in perfectly to the quote, as it’s been 20 years later.

We’re sitting on Ape Escape’s 20th anniversary today and still looking for news. Ape Escape 3 was rated by the ESRB for the PS4 about 3 years ago, which means there may be an Ape Escape remaster or spinoff, but this never happened.

Right now, we’re just seeing a bunch of promo posts to celebrate the game’s anniversary:

But with this new post, could it be the news we’re looking for? The question is, will it be a remaster or reboot? Or new entry? Ape Escape 4? Come on now.
