Check out Konami’s TurboGrafx-16 Mini

Konami will be rolling out a TurboGrafx-16 mini and riding the “classic” edition of home consoles.

The original TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine was designed by HudsonSoft and wasn’t a huge success outside of Japan. Although the were over a dozen versions of the system developed, this thing never really seemed to take off.

However, that’s not stopping Konami from bringing this bad boy over to the US in a miniature version. Nintendo started the fad, followed by Sony and Sega, and Atari. It seems like everyone wants to dip their feet into this pool of creating miniature consoles for the masses and take a piece of the profit pie.

They’ll first release the PC Engine Core Grafx Mini in EU, then two more models in NA and JP. Pricing, availability, and release schedule is currently unknown.

The TurboGrafx will have a few retro games shipped built-in, with the partial lineup revealed at E3. The console will be small, and the controller will be regular size. Only a few games have been revealed so far.

We’ll be getting a mix of US and JP oddities to play:

  • R-Type
  • New Adventure Island
  • Ninja Spirit
  • Ys Book I & II
  • Dungeon Explorer
  • Alien Crush
  • Bonk’s Adventure
  • Dracula X
  • The Kung Fu/China Warrior
  • Ys Book I & II
  • Super Star Soldier
  • Dungeon Explorer
