Torchlight II coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch with exclusive content

Torchlight II will be coming to consoles on September 3.

The game was originally released back in 2012 and was a smash hit. Runic Games hasn’t done much with the series since then (i.e. nothing) since they were focusing on Hob for 2017.

Panic Button and Runic will be paired to bring Torchlight II to consoles. The game has been planned for release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.

Since the game was originally a PC game, porting it over to the consoles will be a challenge since it’ll be a change of controller input. Player movement will be altered and the interface will also be changed to make Torchlight playable on a controller for consoles.

There will also be new achievements and pets that are only available on the console editions. Of course, pets and some console-specific achievements aren’t much, but for players who’ve already played this before, this is another reason to play it again.

Nintendo Switch players allow up to four consoles to be connected for multiplayer play.

Sure, Torchlight II is dated. But it’s a classic. And a welcome addition to the console family. I’ll be picking up a copy on the Xbox and reliving the game.

They’ve already released a trailer for the game so far with the official news. You can check it out here:
