EA says they’re “fully committed” to making more Star Wars games

EA said in a recent interview that the publisher will continue to make more Star Wars games, even with the last one getting botched.

As reported by Variety, a spokesperson for the publishing giant EA said:

“There’s been speculation overnight about one of our Star Wars projects. As a natural part of the creative process, the great work by our team in Vancouver continues and will evolve into future Star Wars content and games. We’re fully committed to making more Star Wars games, we’re very excited about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from Respawn, and we’ll share more about our new projects when the time is right.”

They’re not in the best of places right now, as they’ve recently told the world that they’re getting rid of the latest blockbuster Star Wars games. Even so, they still want gamers to know that they’ll be making more in the future- so far that they’re “fully committed” to making them.

EA was confirmed to have recently shut down a Star Wars game they were making with a codename of Orca. The game was supposed to be a reimagining of the Visceral Games project Ragtag, which was also botched and shut down the company with it. EA got the rights to Lucasfilm-Disney and has released just Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront II– the games that really showed the greediness of EA.

Battlefront I and II had a controversy surrounding it with its season pass, loot crates, and microtransactions. Both titles went through much scrutiny and criticism with EA having to make it up to the players.

The new project that’s been confirmed is Jedi: Fallen Order being developed by Respawn Entertainment. DICE is no longer working on any Star Wars games at the moment (that have been confirmed). All we know so far is nothing- but the title of the game.

EA wants to still let players know that they’re the go-to for Star Wars games, but really haven’t delivered anything worthwhile yet. we’ll have to wait for E3 this year to see what they have in store, because if they’re going to be the go-to publisher for EA games, their last few games were upsetting and their latest project is now nothing.

Don’t take their word too seriously at this point, even though they’re “fully committed” to making more Star Wars games. Perhaps they should just stop and rethink what they’re doing at this point. Disney should really step-in and just give another publisher a try. And don’t get your hopes for Fallen Order either. It could just follow the same path. EA, what are you doing?

The Variety interview and the other one with Vince Zampella look like very different standpoints:
