Fortnite brings back glider redeploy as an ability charge

The ability to redeploy your glider in the world’s most popular battle royale game is back.

Epic Games removed a feature that was somewhat controversial with a compromise, which is to redeploy your glider after the drop from the Battle Bus. But now, Fortnite will bring it back as an exhaustible item in V7.20 based on player feedback.

Redeploying the glider allowed for players to sail around and make some epic plays, like escaping a collapsing building by jumping off a cliff and then gliding to the nearest zipline to zip back up. And then get a double kill with a stick of dynamite. Players would need a launch pad to make this happen before, but Epic allowed them to redeploy the glider. Only until it got removed.

With escape being so easy, it kind of made the launch pad useless. The item was pointless since anyone could just glide away at the press of a button. So the feature was removed. Then the community complained. And now Epic has compromised.

Now, the glider can be redeployed once again, but will take up space in your backpack and can be found nearly everywhere- chests, llamas, supply drops, etc. Players won’t have to select the redeploy glider with just the press of a button at the cost of a number of charges. But you can still use a jump pad, rift, rift-to-go, and respawns won’t use up a redeploy charge.

Fortnite is still the world’s most popular battle royale game and brings in $3M a day. Fortnite is currently the most played game on the Switch in Europe and takes first place on the PS Store. The next update launches today and is version 7.20, following the V7.10 update that brought suppressed snipers and dual pistols to the battleground.

Stay tuned for V7.20 updates.
