SSBU mod Project NX makes the game play like Melee

With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate being the best-selling game on the Switch (and the most pre-order sales in Nintendo history), fans have already created a mod to bring back some Super Smash Bros. Melee movement mechanics.

For anyone who’s ever played any Smash game, the definitive and competitive edition of the game is none other than Melee. This is the version that’s used in tournaments worldwide and is arguably the best in terms of gameplay balance, mechanics, and controls out of all the games. Ever.

So it’s no surprise that a new mod has been released for SSBU that makes it play more similarly to SSBM. This mod reduces landing lag and allows quicker movement. A community member called NyxTheShield is creating this mod to emulate the same movement machines as Melee– just like Project M.

The mod is officially called Project NX and some footage has been released on Twitter by him:

A character demonstrated in Palutena because she’s known for her lack of speed. And lack of wave dashing. The mod may or may not be releasd to the public, but his Tweet says that he’s “playtesting” it, so it should eventually come out, right? If it follows Project M, then there could be a chance for tournaments to utilize the mod.

If you want to play SSBU competitively, you may want to watch the progress on Project NX.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the best-selling game on Amazon, outselling other games, accessories, and even digital store cards. It’s the newest entry to the Super Smash Bros. franchise dating back to the N64 era. The first DLC is already underway and will be released soon.

You can pick up a copy of SSBU on Amazon exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
