New Marvel game in the works; Developed by Second Dinner

Second Dinner is a new game studio that’s undertaking a pretty prestigious name in the entertainment industry. We’re talking Marvel.

Second Dinner is a game studio that was forged in early 2018 and consists of a small team of five people. They’re all veterans with Ben Brode, who was the former Game Director of Hearthstone; Hamilton Chu, who was a former Bungie employee and worked on games like World of Warcraft and Hearthstone.

Other team members worked at Blizzard on big games like Starcraft, Diablo, and various others. They’re still looking for new members such as a Unity Client Engineer and a technical artist. We can already deduce that this new Marvel game will be based on Unity. They’re looking to fill up to 15 positions and state:

We think there’s a huge opportunity to make deep, satisfying games that are optimized for mobile”, it’s likely that it will be a mobile-first title. It will be interesting to see what kind of game a small indie studio with experienced veterans pump out for Marvel.

The game studio is led by veterans in the industry and they annouced that they’re partnering with the Marvel brand to create a brand new, unaccounted mystery game. Currently, all we know is that the game is still in its prototype phase based on the video they released a few days ago titled “Second Dinner Big Announcements!”

They didn’t give any details in regards to what kind of Marvel game this is, who the hero will be, and when the game is planned to be released. All we know is that it’s licensed by Marvel and they’ve been working on it for about 180 days, according to Chief Creative Officer Ben Brode. Other team members have yet to be revealed right now, but we can be assured that we’re not getting any amateurs working on this title.

There was a minority investment from NetEase of $30M and the new partnership with Marvel will allow them to develop the game- if not most of it. Hamilton Chu, CEO of Second Dinner, says:

“…we have enough to get to the end of the first project, we think, without having to stop in the middle, to scramble for more investment…”
