Nintendo’s mobile games bring in $85M in Q1 2019

Nintendo has been in the mobile market for quite some time, and they’re definitely making some serious cash.

With their recent and viral titles like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Mario Run, Nintendo has been making some serious income since joining the mobile gaming market. While Super Mario Run wasn’t an exact success as we thought it would be, some other games like Fire Emblem Heroes has brought them some nice income for the company.

Q1 of 2019 for Nintendo’s mobile sales was an amazing start for the company. The publisher brought in about $85M globally last quarters on both Android and iOS, which is up 6% YoY compared to Q1 of last year, which brought in about $80M. Q1 so far in 2019 has been down, however, compared to Q4 of last year, which brought in 112.3M, but then again, this was during the holiday season and game release windows also matter.

Even though they’re down from last quarter, Dragalia Lost helped stop the company from dropping a further 23% from Q1 2018, as the game brought in a nice 423.4M. But the title has been underperforming in Q2 and is now being revamped by Nintendo. Animal Crossing: POcket Camp has been making a surge in Q1 and brought in about $12.9ME, up 30% from Q1 2018.

Super Mario Run did the worst- at just 3% of their total mobile device income at $2.3M, which is down 41% from Q1 2018.

Nintendo has been extremely successful in dominating the mobile market, which includes both tablets and smartphones. They’ll be releasing two new mobile games this year- Dr. Mario World and Mario Kart Tour, which will both be pretty amazing to think about how we can play both these games now on our phones, against other players around the world. Nintendo should even make these titles even more successful based on their previously garnered experience.
