Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege’s newest map will take place in Australia.
Specifically, the Australian outback. The map is a desert area filled with locals and specialty goods you won’t find anywhere else. The area was pretty isolated from the rest of the lands when a nuclear convoy fell under attack when it was in transit. The locals that lived in this place all ran for their lives, and that’s where you come in to clean up the mess.
The new map will have “dusty service stations and motels that populate the forgotten highways of the continent, places filled with hardworking locals and specialty menu items you’ll find nowhere else.”
Rainbow Six Siege is currently in its fourth year and started its first season. The new operation place in this new outback, with the map divided up to 3 areas- the Motel, Restaurant, and Garage. Each area of the map will use color-coded lighting and the geometry of the buildings to make sure that players know where they are.
The rest of Operation Burnt Horizon will be revealed on February 17 on Twitch during.
The level designers designed the map to bring back a “style of gameplay that players have enjoyed in the past, while keeping the meta in mind.”
Assistant level design director Jacques Wong made these statements regarding RSS’s new map:
“We wanted to emphasize the impact of player decision-making, so for example, there’s a limited number of doors between each sections. Roamers can still create new paths by destroying walls, and there’s always the option of changing floors as a flanking strategy. It’s a medium-sized map, so players won’t need to go far to find alternative routes.”
