The Witcher will be coming to Netflix this Fall

The Witcher TV series will be coming to the streaming giant this Fall.

After many months of fan speculation and rumors, Netflix has finally announced the release timeframe for The Witcher, which has been adapted into a TV series for the streaming mogul.

The show will premiere next Fall between October and December this year.

Netflix Chief Content Office, Ted Sarandos had the following to say when asked about upcoming shows for their service:

And then you start seeing later in the fourth quarter some of our bigger film investments coming through like Irishman, like 6 Underground and also a big new original series that we’re currently shooting in Hungary called The Witcher, that is an enormous European IP, very popular game and Book IP, that we think is going to make a really fun global series.

So far, we know a few of the cast members and one of the major filming locations for the show. Other than that, we don’t know much. Keep in mind that The Witcher has been speculated since 2017, and many fans are already waiting anxiously for this show. There will be 8 episodes for season one- each at one hour lengths.

The cast is made up of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will be writing the series, who’s known for The Defenders and Daredevil. Other than that, everyone has been tight-lipped regarding the show.

We know that there was a clip of the set at Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest, with the majority of the show being filmed at Poland and Hungary.

Netflix has also rumored to be producing a sequel for The Witcher. The first season will be releasing around the same time as Disney+.

As for now, we’ll have to see further trailers and news regarding this release. Fans are stoked over this news, as now we have some kind of The Witcher series release date straight from Netflix.
