Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be the next CoD game that’s been planned for release later this year.
2019 still has one more Call of Duty game left, and fans were speculating that it’d be CoD: MW4. However, even though that’s pretty much it, Activision’s next CoD is going to be trendy and just call it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Yup. That’s it.
Jason Schreier from Kotaku has confirmed that the game releasing for the next entry into the series is confirmed to be just aptly named Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
He reported this on Twitter and states that it’s “hilarious” which many people would seemingly agree:
The name change is a little confusing, as many are expecting the next entry to be MW4. But this time, it’ll be called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
The only difference is that Activision can place the “4” on either side of the game’s name and technically still be considered a new title.
While this is already confusing enough, they’re trying to stay away from the previous 3 CoD: MW games, as they’ve been plain terrible.
A game within the Modern Warfare series hasn’t been released since 2011, and Jason Schreier has stated the game will be a “soft reboot” of the series. Activision wants to keep the Modern Warfare title, but distance itself from previous titles.

I specialize in indie games as I think they don’t get the attention they deserve. I’m just your typical consumer who has some opinions to share. I’ve been reviewing games since I was 12. I started out reviewing them with friends on old forums that now no longer exist. Then I went to online VoDs, which I’ve lost interest in.
