Blizzard giving away free copies of Destiny 2

Blizzard giving away free copies of Destiny 2 3

Blizzard is now giving away free copies of Destiny 2 for the first two weeks or so of this month until the 18th.

Before Blizzard’s keynote at Blizzcon 2018, Bungie announced that the game would be free for anyone to download and own through Battle.net:

Bungie and Activision have announced that the full Destiny 2 base game for PC is now a free gift for all new players on Blizzard Battle.net. For the first two weeks of November, anyone who does not already own the PC game will have the opportunity to claim it as a gift through their Battle.net account.

Destiny 2 will be free to claim and download from November 2–18, 2018. New Battle.net accounts created after 11:00 a.m. PDT on November 2, 2018, will need to enable Blizzard SMS Protect before claiming their free copy. Destiny 2 PC is redeemable from the Battle.net gift page.

The free version is just the base game and doesn’t include the recent expansion, Forsaken, which is pretty much required in order to beat the game. The vanilla game can be thought of as an expanded “demo” of the actual game- given that it’s been sold for next-to-nothing and even offered as a free game for PS+ Members.

Players who buy Forsaken or the season pass will get the previous expansions, Curse of Osiris and Warmind for free. Destiny 2 is Bungie’s shooter which has slowly recovered after a rocky launch due to limited chat. The game’s expansion was the most downloaded game in September, even beating out Marvel’s Spider-Man for digital downloads.

Now that the base game is out for free for a limited time, new players will be pumped through the game’s ecosystem and economy, which should only help the game’s overall playerbase. Although many deem this move as a money grab by Blizzard to lure players and get them to buy the expansions, free is free. And it’s definitely worth wasting a weekend on just playing the single-player campaign and online modes.

You can download the game to your Blizzard account by claiming it as a gift until the 18th of this month. The game is only available for free on PC. All accounts created today and alter will require a Blizzard SMS Protect (basically confirm your phone number with them) in order to claim the game. This prevents multiple account creations for resellers. You can grab your free copy of Destiny 2 here.

CoD: BO4 shatters day one sales records in total Activision history

CoD: BO4 shatters day one sales records in total Activision history 4

Activision came out with a press release yesterday to announce their latest publication, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, has been the most successful day one digital release in the publisher’s entire history. This means that sales for CoD: BO4 broke all previous sales records- including the record set by Call of Duty: WII and broke the record for day one sales on the entire PlayStation Store and release day sales on Xbox One.

PC digital sales were over double that of those set by WWII on first day sales. Player count also grew since last year’s release. The press release also had a remark from Call of Duty Executive VP and GM Rob Kostrich:

Black Ops 4 is an incredible game, and the community’s response to it has been amazing. We have shattered multiple digital day one sales records, and the number of people who connected online on day one to play has grown year on year. But probably the most important thing is that the community is having so much fun across Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout. We are so incredibly thankful for the community’s trust and support. This is just the beginning, it’s going to be an incredible journey with Black Ops 4.

This is the first entry into the CoD lineup that features a battle royale mode and has absolutely no single-player campaign. BO4 is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Spyro Reginited Trilogy: Two games are DLC, what about the last?

Spyro Reginited Trilogy: Two games are DLC, what about the last? 6

Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be releasing in about a month and fans will be able to return to familiar nostalgic locations like the Summer Forest or Artisan’s World. Their official Twitter account has been teasing fans with updated box art of the game.

A few changes were obvious on the official pre-order page compared to the older design.

For one, Spyro cover the majority of the face of the box with his face being zoomed in on a lot more than previously. Perhaps this will bring attention to fans who’ve wandered from the Spyro series and haven’t been keeping up with the news. Seeing the family purple dragon’s face may just get more sales for players who weren’t expecting another Spyro game to be rolling out- especially if they used to like the game. The background shows off the games included in the trilogy, with a selection of levels that represent their final bosses: Gnasty Gnorc, The Sorceress, and Ripto. This may bring back some nostalgia for older players who grew up with Spyro.

The design the art is also eager to let players know that will require content to be downloaded in order to play with a bold “requires content download” and a lesser-bold “original 3 games remastered.” Spyro’s horns divide the backdrop into their respective games with the logo and branding right in the middle. It’s hard to miss this title with the contrast of bright colors.

The latter two games will require an internet connection and fans seem to be taking this very negatively They’re asking why the physical release is necessary if 2/3 of the games are available via download. It could be single-use code or it’ll act like a patch for the game.

Activision Gameinformer received this response from the company:

“The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Sept. 21, and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day, As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common. The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.”

But then that means if the entire games will be downloaded, or if it’s a day one patch, or if the games are split between disc and download. Activision has done this before with games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater where only a portion is on the actual disc and the rest requires a download. The Twitter account also continues to release news about the trilogy, but as for actual details about the download situation, none yet.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII to release October 12, 2018

Black Ops IIII is set for release.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII has been announced and is set for release October 12th, 2018.

Publisher Activision has stated that the game is in development and has been confirmed for the rumored release date. The announcement was made after the game was teased by James Harden, pro basketball player. He was at a recent game dressed in full camo and a cap as well. The cap had an “IIII” logostylizedd in the Black Ops fashion with Roman numbers and font.

Developer Treyarch will be taking the reigns this time round after Sledgehammer Games on Call of Duty: WWII. This game will be the first CoD title to be released since CoD 2 which was released back in 2005 in the same month.

It’s unsure why these two companies used “IIII” instead of “IV” instead. But it was shown that the Birtish Museum revealed that both IV and IIII were both used during Roman times. It’s just that “IV” came into popularity in modern times as reported by Eurogamer.

Additional info will be relased on May 17th during a Community Reveal Event for fans. So far, the only information revealed is to “foget what you know” as stated on the CoD site. That’s pretty much it.

Black Ops III is still receving updates such as the Infected game mode and the Redwood Snow map also. Updates should keep hardcore fans busy until IIII rolls out.
