FoxNext Games and Cold Iron Studios’ Alien game may be an online MMO shooter.
Many fans were unhappy with Alien: Blackout being a mobile game (just like Diablo Immortal), there’s still another Alien game being developed for consoles and PC coming from Cold Iron Studios. Damaris
FoxNext confirmed today that the new Alien game will be an MMO shooter, which is based on the cult classic Alien: Isolation released back in 2014 as a horror title.
The news stems from the press release of Alien: Blackout, where they also annouced that “FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC.” Other than this game being for the PC and consoles and being an online shooter, we know nothing else. It’s just another shimmer of hope for those who are disappointed with Blackout being a mobile game.
FoxNext and Cold Iron Studios hinted that the game was an “online shooter” before, but following the press release confirms the game and the aim that the developers are going for. Many fans just wanted another horror game, but making an MMO rather than a traditional Alien game is a pretty significant difference. For newcomers who want a horror-themed game, SEGA’s Alien: Isolation is the go-to title.
We’ll also likely see the return of Amanda Ripley. FoxNext already wanted to use Ripley from the previous titles and even stated that “20th Century Fox will partner with a wide range of storytellers and innovators to bring this epic chapter in the Alien Universe to life, with even more entries in Amanda Ripley’s story soon to be announced.”
