New Splinter Cell game was just a troll tweet

A new Splinter Cell game was rumored to be in development, but that was just a hoax.

Julian Gerighty of The Division 2 tried to make the world think that he was working on a new Splinter Cell game on his Twitter, but he was just fraudin’.

Twitter went wild when the news spread, that Ubisoft’s own creative director of The Division 2 tweeted that he and his team are working on a new Splinter Game. Then he says “can’t wait for E3” and posted various pictures of him and the other directors who appear to be drinking.

Of course, Twitter blew up and people started reading the trending news. A new Splinter Cell game has never been confirmed and fans were absolutely starving for some details regarding the next game.

The problem is that he was just trolling.

And fans should know this too. People who work for the company are under legal obligation to not reveal any details like this (most of the time). But he did. And people believed him.

Now, Ubisoft probably will get some flack for his behavior. But then again, it must’ve been fun just to see the reactions.

A rep from Ubisoft then came out and confirmed that the tweet was just a joke:

“Julian was obviously joking as Julian likes to do. It looks like our creative directors are having fun right now. We do not have any announcements to make at this time.”

The demand for the next Splinter Cell is there. Now just make it happen, Ubisoft.
