Nintendo working on an “online” title; Possible new first-party

Nintendo is looking at launching at launching a new Switch exclusive game anytime from now until March 2020.

According to Takashi Mochizuki from The Wall Street Journal, he reported that Nintendo is prepping at least one title for the Switch. It’s unannounced, and it’ll be a first-party game most likely. He tried reaching out to them and Nintendo did confirm that they’re working on something with the following statement:

“One that is a nice fit to the online program.”

As you may know, Nintendo rolled out their paid online network a few months ago. This network lets you play online, cloud saves, and gives you NES Classic games for free to play in the library. Compared to competitors like Xbox One and PS4, the service costs barely anything. So it makes sense that they’re developing a game that pairs well with this online service, as there is no definitely online multiplayer Nintendo game as of yet. Who knows what it’ll be? All we know is that it’ll be a multiplayer game and it’ll be released before March 2020 (possibly).

He asked Twitter followers to guess at what the new game could be. We saw a variety of replies, some of which have merit and others are just outright ridiculous. You can see for yourself here:

Nintendo has been making strides recently and is probably the only company that’s doing it right. They’re also releasing a smaller, portable version of the Switch within the same fiscal year. The Switch itself has sold over 32M units and SSBU was the best-selling video game product during the holiday season on Amazon.

We’ll have to sit tight for this Nintendo exclusive. Stay tuned.
