Steam gets rid of movies and videos sections (because they’re not gaming related)

Steam, the world’s largest DRM platform, will be removing the videos and movies sections from itself.

Valve announced that the “videos” tab is no longer accessible for users in the store. Steam has decided that they should focus on content that’s related to just gaming rather than try to get everything under the sun. They had plans to sell movies, TV shows, and trailers that players wouldn’t naturally expect to find on Steam.

But now, they want to move away from that and just be a gaming platform:

The movies and videos tabs are now gone and Steam will just have content that’s related to games or software sold on the platform. Exciting content can still be found using the search function, and videos tied with games will still be listed on all pages.

Any content you’ve purchased or downloaded will still be available for download.

Steam is made for games and this is what gamers expect. To be honest, I never even knew about the videos and movies section until I was told by a colleague. Makes total sense to slowly get away from non-gaming content and focus on what it does best.
