Anthem has “gone gold”; Cross-play not happening

Anthem has now officially gone gold, according to a developer over at BioWare.

The upcoming third-person RPG will finally be arriving n shelves soon. Tal Peleg, a developer at BioWare, confirmed today that the much-anticipated game has been sent off to shelves for manufacturing, which means it’s being “made” for physical and digital retail as we speak.

The game wasn’t in development for that long of a time. BioWare has been showing gameplay footage here and here only to be met with the same remark of it being a Destiny 2 clone. Anthem was first annouced back in 2014 by BioWare and was officially annouced in 2017.

Now, the game is ready to be released in such a short time span. There wasn’t much coverage about the game during the time it was in development other than a few gameplay trailers here and there and the Anthem demo.

Anthem has also been confirmed to not b supporting cross-play between platforms. This may change when the game actually rolls out, but launch doesn’t seem to have any cross-play components. One of the game’s producers also confirmed that the game won’t have loot crates and will only be cosmetics available in terms of microtransactions.

The Day 1 patch will likely be a 10GB patch, as rumors have it. But let’s hope it’s slightly smaller than that.

Fans are now hyped for this game and I can see Destiny 2 fans giving it a try as well. BioWare will likely focus on the next Dragon Age game (Dragon Age 4?) after Anthem is released for the majority of their efforts with the content updates for Anthem here and there.

You can pick up a copy of Anthem for the PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on February 22. There will also be an Anthem demo available this weekend. This should keep you busy until the game rolls out.
