Bubsy’s making a comeback on the Nintendo Switch this summer- but it’s been delayed.
Everyone’s favorite mascot will be making an appearance again on his next game- Bubsy: Paws on Fire. The game was scheduled to launch on PC, PS4, and the Switch on May 16 this year, but then Accolade and Choice Provisions have decided to push back the release date to summer. Gotta make the game perfect!
Note that only the Switch version has been delayed. The PC and PS4 versions of Bubsy will still release next week on Thursday.
The delay will probably upset many people looking forward to the Bubsy series, which hasn’t had anything going for it since the Jaguar days. The PC and PS4 versions seem to be on track for the May 16 release. Mike Roush, co-founder of Choice Provisions, explained that the Switch version will be released after some adjustments are made:
“the Switch version of Bubsy: Paws on Fire! is in great shape, we’re in the final push on some non-gameplay aspects on Switch.”
Bubsy hasn’t had any particular rapport going for the game, so this may be the first version of the game that’s actually done right. The developers state that this will be the first ever “good” Bubsy game.
Right now, the Switch version of Bubsy lists a 6/27 release, which may or may not be true at this time. Bringing back the cat in this game is an excellent marketing move, as the character has already garnered a reputation and the strategy to make another game with him is just genius.
Bubsy: Paws on Fire will release for the PC and PS4 next week and the Nintendo Switch version will be rolling out this summer.
In the meantime, here’s the trailer for the new Bubsy:
