EA Access coming to PS4 this summer

EA Access will be coming to the PS4.

It only took about 5 years after first rolling out on Xbox One, but it’s finally happening. EA has announced today that the EA Access program will be coming to the PS4.

The time frame? This summer.

For those who aren’t familiar, the EA Access is basically a “vault” of games that you pay monthly for access to. If you really like their games, this is a definite way to save up on buying the new released.

You can buy a month for about $5 and a year for about $30, which is much cheaper than the price of a new release game at MSRP.

EA has decided to bring this over to PS4 to give players “more choice,” according to Matt Bilbey of EA:

“Our goal is to give players more choice to try and play our games wherever and however they choose, and we’re happy to bring EA Access to PlayStation 4,”

Although this is nothing new for Xbox One players, Sony stated that they believed their subscription service didn’t provide any “valuel to the PlayStation gamer.”

However, it looks like EA has changed their mind and will be rolling it out regardless. The lineup of games you can access has over 50 titles now, including Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront series.

Although they may be a little late to the party, EA’s attempt to capture the market or provide an additional revenue source has now been revealed. Whether players partake or not, the option is now available for PlayStation players.

Some players speculate that the PS4 version won’t be as good as the Xbox One version due to backward compatibility.

Stay tuned for an exact release date and more details.
