Owlcat Games has announced that they’ll be releasing an enhanced edition of Pathfinder: Kingmaker.
This enhanced edition will be available as a complete overhaul of the base product, and there will also be a third and final DLC to the series. The DLC is called Beneath the Stolen Lands, and arrives with Kingmaker Enhanced Edition on June 6.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker was released last year with a silent launch and mixed reception from fans. Many people reported bugs that ruined the game originally on the tabletop and CRPG players.
The game is definitely a cult-type game, with only a niche amount of players who even know the thing exists. The RPG Codex did nominate the game as RPG of the Year even with the slew of bugs the game has.
The main difference between the standard Pathfinder and the enhanced edition is a bunch of new content. The enhanced edition comes with new classes, abilities, QoL enhancements, balancing, and new stuff to loot. There will also be numerous bugs and patch fixes, and bunch of new class changes.
The new class will be the Slayer, which is basically a hybrid between the Rogue and Ranger. The balancing comes from the gameplay difficulty between the first few chapters and the last few. There will also be new UI/UX changes, such as the kingdom management layout.
Owlcat seems proud of the enhanced edition and the restless will be free to everyone who bought the standard edition.
As for the DLC to Pathfinder, this will be the last DLC and has been postponed to release in late May. They wanted to release it at the same time as the enhanced edition, so that’s why they’re both coming out on the same day.
The DLC adds a new dungeon made from scratch. You play through the Tenebrous Depths with newly created characters in an endless dungeon.
The dungeon focuses on the game’s creation system which lets you play different bulbs to suit your playstyle in a roguelike setting. You can also use your main character or another character of Golarion as you play through the main story.
The dungeon does have a pre-set version, which you’ll be able to play through the main story using your main or companions to team up through the DLC content.
For those who just can’t wait for Pathfinder: Kingmaker Enhanced Edition, you can watch a developer stream on Twitch today at 7:30 EST. News will be released accordingly during this stream and going forward.
