Respawn will now ban “piggybackers” in Apex Legends, no more bad teammates

Respawn Entertainment has announced that they’ll be banning players who are going AFK or are just being “bad” teammates.

Some of these players (probably the most annoying thing) often just jump into a match and use their teammates to survive longer, which will grant them extra EXP at the end of the match when tallying up.

Respawn is well aware of this piggybacking and will start by banning players who are found guilty. Extreme cases of this will be a permanent ban, but they’ll start with temporary banning. This problem may not affect everyone, especially those who are paired with veterans or their friends, but was a problem to the point where Respawn had to do something about it.

The banwave won’t happen right away. They want to give their players some time by throwing a warning out there before the actual bans start happening so players can stop piggybacking off their teammates.

Apex Legends has come a long way since the beginning. Respawn always has had a problem with cheaters, but they just announced that they’ve banned nearly 800K accounts in a recent banwave. The game was a huge success and will also be coming to mobile platforms, so prepping the game for a solid future would be in their best interest.

Apex Legends is free to play and you can grab a copy on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
