Fortnite ending Fortnitemares with in-game live event today; Butterfly begins?

Fortnite ending Fortnitemares with in-game live event today; Butterfly begins? 1

The speculated Butterfly event in Fortnite will go live today at 1PM ET/10AM PT/12PM CT/7PM CET and will mark the official end of Fortnitemares. Kevin the Purple Cube will finally meet his demise, and this is a one-time live event happening in Fortnite. You’ll likely never be able to see this again- in person at least. So get ready to witness history.

Everything we know comes from data miners and data leaks with various game files that are pieced together with speculation to guesstimate what’ll happen during this new event. The Butterfly kickoff event will likely only last a few minutes, so be sure you’re logged in if you want to watch it live for yourself.

This isn’t the first time Epic has done an in-game live event, such as last time when the rocket was blasted and many players tuned in to watch it happen. The same goes for the Butterfly event. Be there or be square. This isn’t an NPC quest in an MMO where everyone gets to see the event upon mouse click.

Players had problems with matchmaking queues during Season 4 with the rocket launch, so be there early- at least 10 minutes early before the event. If you’re reading this now, the Butterfly event starts in a little over 30 minutes from now. You should probably look into Fortnite and prime your cursor!

With the launch of Butterfly, Fortnitemares will come to an end. Epic Games still hasn’t specified which game modes the event will be visible in, other than it won’t be in Playground LTM. Stick with Solo, Duos, or Squads in Fortnitemares. No Disco Domination.

Navigate over to Leaky Lake and find the Purple Cube and watch out for enemies. If you get eliminated you won’t have time to get into a new game. Try spectating other players if you get killed. There are rumors that players will be invulnerable during the event, but there hasn’t been any solid confirmation yet, so be careful.

Kevin the Cube cracked open yesterday and started leaking yesterday. The Purple Cube looks like it’s about to end itself and data miners have gathered that it’ll split into three fragments with Leaky Lake returning to its previous appearance as Loot Lake with some new islands added to the map, though we’re not sure what they are. Probably related to Butterfly.

We’ll post an update after the event. See you at Leaky Lake!

Fortnite’s purple cube debunked; Data miners show off game files

Fortnite's purple cube debunked; Data miners show off game files 2

With zombies and goblins causing chaos all over the map in Fortnite during their Fortnitemares event, no one seems to be paying attention to the purpose cube sitting around at Loot Lake.

Season 6 is already upon us and players have been wondering what’s up with the purple cube and its ominous glow which was first spotted back in August. Traveling to Loot Lake and destroying it followed by spawning zombies all around, the purple cube is starting to do something.

Fortnite streamer Dakotaz saw the cube break open during a Playground match earlier today. The cube suddenly broke apart and the substance inside it has begun leaking out into the whirlpool around the cube.

This is on-par with the current event going on in Fortnite right now- called Butterfly, which will go live today tomorrow, November 4th. The cube seems to be setting up for the event.

The video of the cube splitting was tweeted on his Twitter account:

Soon afterward, another event took place. The cube shows something leaking from the core and drop directly into the split below.

Later on, Fortnite data miners at Silox discovered some game files that show what happens to the ominous purple cube. If you don’t mind spoilers, here’s what happens:

The cube will split into a trio of fragments as shown by texture files based on leaked data from Silox. A tweet was posted with the fragments two days prior on November 1st.

The Butterfly event will take place tomorrow, November 4th at 1PM ET. Epic said the live game event won’t be visible in Playground mode.

So far, we’ve seen some weird butterfly shapes and some weird sounds from sources around the web, but we’re not exactly sure what they’ll be used for. We’ll have to sit tight for a little over 11 hours from now until the event goes live to see what it’s all about.

Diablo Immortal is a mobile game – And fans are not pleased

Diablo Immortal is a mobile game - And fans are not pleased 3

At BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard announced another branch of their Diablo projects they’re working on called Diablo Immortal. And guess what? It’s a phone game.

Fans were obviously not pleased as most mobile games are just full of microtransactions and don’t offer close to the immersive experience you can only get on a PC monitor or TV. The announcement trailer for the Diablo phone game garnered about 1.4M views, but has close to 295K dislikes at the time of this writing. That’s a lot.

The Diablo subreddit has also shown their disdain for the game as a “slap in the face” as they were hoping for something else- like a PC or console game. Fans are unhappy. And that’s a fact. Even with the bare minority that may appreciate this, the majority are rather frustrated and didn’t expect a phone game.

Allen Adham, Executive Producer, and Blizzard Co-Founder, along with Dan Eggren, the Production Director, came out in an interview with Polygon and talked about the project some more. With all this hate towards Diablo Immortal, they had to step out and clarify the situation. You know it’s important when someone high up the ladder has to come out with clarification.

Adham says during the interview:

“We have said that we have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple Diablo projects and that remains true, even after releasing [Diablo 3 for Nintendo] Switch and announcing Diablo: Immortal,” Adham said. “We still have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects. Diablo is a tentpole franchise for us. And it always will be. We love it. We hope our fans understand what we’re saying when we say that.”

So this should quell some fears fans have. Just some. But not by much.

He’s basically stating that there are multiple Diablo projects in the works and a phone game is just one of them. He wants to capture the younger generation globally who use a phone to play their games and deliver the Diablo experience:

“The world is evolving both geographically and demographically,” he said. “Younger folks now, many of them, mobile is their primary gaming device. And then around the world in many regions, it’s their primary gaming device, and so it’s always been our aspiration [to bring games to them].”

The community wanted something to follow up to 2012’s Diablo 3. That’d be ideal. Adham believed that once fans finally get the mobile experience, they may change their mind about the whole scenario:

“We definitely feel that playing is believing, and we definitely value our fans. We feel that they’re passionate about the franchise … and they put their heart into it just as we put our heart into it. And we hope that as they get opportunities to see people play, see more of the gameplay, they’ll see that passion that’s in this game… What we see is anybody who actually holds it and plays it feels great about it.”

Blizzard has been telling fans to just try the game, but fans seem reluctant to even do just that. However, we’ll see what other projects Blizzard appears to have up their sleeve regarding one of the world’s most popular action RPGs. And we’ll see how fans react to Diablo Immortal soon enough. Sit tight for updates from Blizzard.

Little Big Planet level recreated perfectly in Dreams by Media Molecule

Little Big Planet level recreated perfectly in Dreams by Media Molecule 4

Media Molecule has been working on Dreams for a long time now. The game has released some artwork and screenshots here and there and definitely looks impressive so far. There’s been discussion across the internet speculating the plot, gameplay, and comparison of Dreams to Little Big Planet.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Little Big Planet, one of the best-selling games on the PS3, Media Molecule released a perfect recreation of a level in Little Big Planet in their newest project, Dreams. The video shows off how closely the game resembles that of the original title. The colors, physics, and gameplay are pretty much identical to the original game. The tweet has garnered over 3.2K likes and 118K views at the time of this writing, which shows there’s still a loyal fanbase following the development of #DreamsPS4.

You can check it out for yourself here:

Dreams were unveiled during Sony’s E3 press conference back in 2015. Since then, the project has only had spurts of news here and there, but many followers are still devoted to following the game until its release, which is scheduled for an exclusive PS4 debut sometime in 2019.

The game was first mentioned back in Gamescom in 2012, believe it or not, where the studio said they were only working on two games at once. One was Dreams, the other was Tearaway for the PS Vita.

The game has been in development for quite a while now and isn’t what players might expect from a first-party studio.

Public beta demos have been announced many times already only to be pushed back or lost in the void. Either the demo was never released or Media Molecule simply never followed-up.

Now that we’ve heard directly from Media Molecule, perhaps we’ll get some more concrete news on their latest project. Stay tuned for updates.

Fortnite PC: Your character’s mouth will now move when you speak

Fortnite PC: Your character's mouth will now move when you speak 5

Another surprise by Epic Games has just been discovered today by the community in Fortnite. Though this update is a small one, it’s a pretty awesome one and goes beyond what you’d expect since it’s so novel.

Some players noticed today that when their mic was plugged in and they spoke, their character’s mouth would move in order to mimic their speech. Developer Epic Games may have added this feature without announcing it, as no patch notes noted this and they didn’t say anything about it on their social channels. The PC version has been confirmed so far to have this update, but consoles and mobile are still relatively unknown at this point.

PC players can test out this feature by plugging in a microphone and then speaking in the game lobby. The character will speak alongside your words.

This feature is only available in the player lobby, not on the spawn island or in actual matches. This will likely be added into actual games later on.

Friend and I Just Found out About the Characters Saying What we say in voice chat… and well… yeah… from FortNiteBR

Players have reported that graphic settings may need to be increased in order to see the mouth movements take place and be visible. Though this isn’t anything significant, it’s nice to see Epic working on novelty updates like this. When you have time to devote a team to add features like this to the game, you know you got your stuff down.

Blizzard giving away free copies of Destiny 2

Blizzard giving away free copies of Destiny 2 6

Blizzard is now giving away free copies of Destiny 2 for the first two weeks or so of this month until the 18th.

Before Blizzard’s keynote at Blizzcon 2018, Bungie announced that the game would be free for anyone to download and own through Battle.net:

Bungie and Activision have announced that the full Destiny 2 base game for PC is now a free gift for all new players on Blizzard Battle.net. For the first two weeks of November, anyone who does not already own the PC game will have the opportunity to claim it as a gift through their Battle.net account.

Destiny 2 will be free to claim and download from November 2–18, 2018. New Battle.net accounts created after 11:00 a.m. PDT on November 2, 2018, will need to enable Blizzard SMS Protect before claiming their free copy. Destiny 2 PC is redeemable from the Battle.net gift page.

The free version is just the base game and doesn’t include the recent expansion, Forsaken, which is pretty much required in order to beat the game. The vanilla game can be thought of as an expanded “demo” of the actual game- given that it’s been sold for next-to-nothing and even offered as a free game for PS+ Members.

Players who buy Forsaken or the season pass will get the previous expansions, Curse of Osiris and Warmind for free. Destiny 2 is Bungie’s shooter which has slowly recovered after a rocky launch due to limited chat. The game’s expansion was the most downloaded game in September, even beating out Marvel’s Spider-Man for digital downloads.

Now that the base game is out for free for a limited time, new players will be pumped through the game’s ecosystem and economy, which should only help the game’s overall playerbase. Although many deem this move as a money grab by Blizzard to lure players and get them to buy the expansions, free is free. And it’s definitely worth wasting a weekend on just playing the single-player campaign and online modes.

You can download the game to your Blizzard account by claiming it as a gift until the 18th of this month. The game is only available for free on PC. All accounts created today and alter will require a Blizzard SMS Protect (basically confirm your phone number with them) in order to claim the game. This prevents multiple account creations for resellers. You can grab your free copy of Destiny 2 here.

Players “locked” out of PT on PS4; Konami denies allegations

Players "locked" out of PT on PS4; Konami denies allegations 7

A few days ago, a rumor surfaced the web that Konami had recently released a new update for their horror game PT that was locking the game for specific players and making it unable to be played. However, this didn’t seem to be a legitimate action even with more player reports all over the ‘net.

Now, Konami has spoken on the issue. They said that there’s indeed been no new update to PT in version 1.01 that would’ve locked the game.

A statement sent to DualShockers read as follows:

“After our investigation we can confirm that there have been no Konami or PlayStation Network (PSN) update that would have affected or prevent access to the game.”

So that’s the confirmation we’ve been looking for. They never prevented access to the game. Though some players can’t access the game on their PS4, this is likely due to a licensing issue or region issue. The whole story could’ve been a hoax from the beginning, but with Koanim’s word, that’s straight from the horse’s mouth.

Though we can’t confirm the whereabouts of this story, we at least know that the developer didn’t actually take any action to lock the game. That’s about as much as we can confirm about the whole uprising. But if any other news surfaces, we’ll keep you updated. We suggest deleting PT and redownloading it if you can’t play the game right now on your PS4. Then again, this is just a demo. People do like drama.

Fortnite’s new trailer shows off floating balloons. And floating clowns.

Fortnite's new trailer shows off floating balloons. And floating clowns. 8

With Halloween and Fortnitemares going all out, it’s officially time for some clowns. That’s right. Clowns.

The debut of Fortnite’s next event with creepy carnival folk may just feel like Halloween never left the game. Fortnite’s latest trailer is all about freaky clowns playing with their newest item- balloons. Season six is currently in full swing as new items continue to make the game more zany and crazier than ever.

Although some streamers disapprove of them, they keep the game feeling fresh and fun for the rest of us. The newest addition is the simple party balloon. But this is enough to string up some new starts for the most popular game on the planet right now. They seem like a handy tool to have in the assassin’s arsenal.

They can be used to gain altitude to quickly advance up and attack opponents who’ve built higher towers. The distance traveled is determined by how many balloons you’re carrying. There are also clowns in the trailer all brandishing huge mallets as they use balloons to sneak up and scale the edge of towers silently to take out their prey. With a little help from these balloons, players can easily transcend tall ledges with ease.

This adds a new dimension to the game and new strategies. Perhaps they’ll be part of the new Fortnite “meta?” Who knows. I’m not a professional player. I just know that clowns are scary.

Fortnite is available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can also play it on Switch, Mac, iOS, and Android will full cross-platform play between each platform. The world’s most popular battle royale is beginning a new season, so jump in and join the craze. Fortnitemares is still going on, so join in while you can get the scares. Halloween may be over in real life, but it ain’t in Fortnite.

Viral Reddit video shows just how dangerous attack dogs are in Black Ops 4

Viral Reddit video shows just how dangerous attack dogs are in Black Ops 4 9

The most threatening enemy in BO4 so far isn’t another player- it’s the freakin’ attack dog.

This year, the holds aren’t a joke only appearing during a scorestreak, but rather can be called in by the Nomad specialist periodically throughout each match. The dogs can literally wipe out an enemy in a single bite and also have a ton of HP to back it up. Players have tried to hide from them rather than kill them. But that doesn’t work too well.

A video uploaded by Reddit user Meltron77 shows off just how dangerous these vicious attack dogs are in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This user tried to hide in the balcony on the outer edge of Summit, but the only way up to the platform is the ladder, which would seem like a safe spot from any dogs, right? After all, dogs can’t climb ladders.

But, it seems like they don’t care whether there’s a ladder or not when you can jump. The dog walks around the platform and then jumped a huge feat on the platform to kill its prey with a small window for it to kill the dog before it could goal out and unleash its single bite of terror.

Though this is probably not intended to be programmed into the game, it’s still funny, and lethal, at the same time. This may be patched later on by Treyarch, as they’ve already been on a patching craze with not 1, 2, but 3 updates in a row. They’re doing some work alright.

The dog can jump huge distances, so be warned. Call of Duty fans should have to kill it rather than trying to run- because this video (which has already garnered tons of attention on Reddit with over 4.5K upvotes at the time of this writing) shows just how lethal the new attack dogs are this time around in the game.

Black Ops 4 is the latest entry into the long-running Call of Duty: Black Ops series and is the first game to not have a single-player campaign and debuts Blackout, which is CoD’s version of battle royale. The game is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can pick up a copy on Amazon.

The game will also be a Doorbuster special from Target for $45 based on an early Black Friday ad they released.

Treyarch releases (another) update for Black Ops 4: Hitching, Blackout draws fixed

Treyarch releases (another) update for Black Ops 4: Hitching, Blackout draws fixed 10

Treyarch has announced yet another new update for BO4 today, November 1st.

With so many updates in a row, it’s like they’ve been working nonstop around the clock since the game was released just about 3 weeks ago on the 12th of October. The last major patch was on October 30 (V1.04), which was the largest update so far in its short history. There was also a minor update on Halloween that updated game settings for PC and enabled players to buy stuff with CoD Points on the Black Market.

Today, another update was released that focused on major issues that players have been facing. The full patch notes weren’t releasd this time around, but Treyarch posted a new tweet that annouced some major changes coming with today’s update. This is Treyarch’s third update for the game.

Xbox One players have been saying that Blackout was unplayable due to hitching issues. This update addresses those problems and allows them to play the game a little smoother so they can be the last man standing in Call of Duty’s version of battle royale.

Also, the bug that caused Blackout games to end in draws was fixed in this update- though this isn’t exclusive to Xbox One players. All versions had this bug and it’s now been corrected.

The full patch notes for the November 1 update will be posted when we get confirmation.

Castlevania Season 3 confirmed; Greenlit by Netflix

Castlevania Season 3 confirmed; Greenlit by Netflix 11

Castlevania Season 3 has been greenlit by Netflix and now is in production based on a tweet by producer Adi Shankar, who just posted the news right on Halloween.

He thanked a few people who helped sway the decision to create the next animated series for Netflix’s streaming program.

Castlevania is one of the rare and few pieces of media based completely on a video game that’s been adopted by mainstream streaming services. The series first premiered on Netflix on July 7, 2017. Season 2 then debuted on October 26, 2018. And Season 3 is now confirmed and in production. Season 1 was the shortest with only four episodes since it was a “pilot” season, with the next season doubled in episodes. Season 3 will have ten videos planned.

Shankar has been a producer for shorts like The Punisher: Dirty Laundry, Venom: Truth in Journalism, James Bond: In Service of Nothing, and Dredd (2012).

He’s working with Warren Ellis, who wrote all 12 episodes of Castlevania and worked on animated series for comic characters like Iron Man, x-men, Blade, and Wolverine. Sam Deats, the director for Castlevania, has found his breakout work in this very series.

Powerhouse Animation is working alongside them and has produced shorts such as Darksiders 2, Starhawk, Epic Micky 2, Red Vs. Blue, and various other animated episodes.

Castlevania Seasons 1 and 2 are available right now on Netflix. Season 3 has now been greenlit and will be hitting your streaming device of choice soon enough.

Sunset Overdrive may be coming to PC; ESRB rating confirmed

Sunset Overdrive may be coming to PC; ESRB rating confirmed 12

While the majority of Microsoft first-party titles are on Xbox One and PC, Insomniac Games’ Sunset Overdrive is one of the few titles that never made it to the PC. Xbox One owners are just fine with the decision, but PC players are missing out on one of the more popular titles published by Microsoft.

However, the third-person wacky shooter may be finally coming to the PC. Gematsu reported earlier today that Sunset Overdrive has been rated by the ERSB for PC. The game was rated M for Mature, just like on the Xbox One- which is to no surprise.

While ratings leaked from Taiwan and Korea are often duds, an ESRB rating is basically confirmation that Sunset Overdrive will show up for the PC eventually in some way, form, or shape. A PC version was rated by the Korean Game Ratings Board back in May which only further solidifies the event.

Insomniac Games’ recent release Marvel’s Spider-Man has shattered sales records, so porting the game from Xbox One to PC may be a safe bet for their next project to keep the momentum going. They also may be bringing other Marvel games to consoles and PC. Many PC players haven’t experienced the Microsoft-published Sunset Overdrive yet, and when it comes to PC, they will. Even if it’s limited to the Microsoft Windows Store, players will likely be picking up a copy.

We’re not sure when Microsoft will unveil the PC port but hang tight for an announcement. Microsoft is holding XO18 soon, and that’ll be a perfect place for an announcement. They’ve recently revealed that they want to bring Xbox Game Pass to PC, their $9.99 a month library of rotating games which has fared well on Xbox One. Considering that Sunset Overdrive is part of the library, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it becoming available on the PC.

Sunset Overdrive is currently available for the Xbox One. You can check it out on Amazon. Or if you prefer to play the game with a ton of other titles, you can grab a Game Pass from Amazon.

And a PS VR bundle at $249.99, which comes with all the basic accessories like the PS Camera and Move controllers with Creed: Rise to Glory and Superhot VR– a perfect setup for those looking for a fully-working VR experience who don’t want to shell out hundreds more for an Oculus or Samsung VR.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas will also be available for just $39.99 which includes the starter kit for Switch and has Fox McCloud and the Arwing included in the neat package.

Lastly, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be marked down to just $45. Perfect pickup for this current-gen FPS that’s all the rage today and is constantly making headlines. Considering the game just came out, this price is a steal.

Halloween Black Ops 4 update: Game settings, PC bug fixes, and CoD Points

Halloween Black Ops 4 update: Game settings, PC bug fixes, and CoD Points 14

Treyarch has released a new game settings update for Black Ops 4 that includes some major changes to the Black Market and PC bug fixes. The V1.04 October 30th update that was released yesterday has a follow-up patch today. Treyarch released another round of updates to BO4 with this October 31 game settings update.

PlayStation 4 and PC players were targeted for this update with plenty of changes for players to get accustomed to. This update follows the big update that was received earlier for PS4 players that added CoD Points to the Black Market as redeemable currency.

Treyarch added Special Orders that brings even more cosmetic items to BO4. These orders can only be bought with CoD Points which allows players to stack each Black Market tier with rewards that can be unlocked at once.

The features are only available on PS4 as of now until a week later when they’ll debut for PC and Xbox One. The V1.04 patch was the biggest Black Ops 4 update so far in its short history, and this update is no competitor. It simply adds some game settings and additional bug fixes following the previous, major update.

Special Orders can be described as a rotating library of skins based on tiers. As Treyarch states:

Special Orders provide a new content stream to unlock in the Black Market with their own set of cosmetic items. With Special Orders, players can stack each tier with multiple items to unlock at once, allowing everyone to maximize item unlocks with two items per Tier at all times and up to three items per Tier when Special Events are live (like the Halloween event live right now!). Players can choose when to acquire and start progressing through Special Orders, and only one can be active at a time. Though Special Orders will rotate on a regular basis, they will stay in your inventory once acquired until they’re completed, and you can switch between active Special Orders at any time. Once a Special Order is activated, you’ll see the new content drop in starting on the Black Market Tier you’re currently on.

PC players will get a separate balancing patch as specific weapons perform differently on PC than consoles. This is still in the works and Treyarch hasn’t confirmed when this will drop.

Here are full patch notes for the October 31 (Halloween) update for Black Ops 4:

Happy Halloween from all of us here at Treyarch! Keep an eye on @Treyarch on Twitter today as we share some of our favorite Halloween-themed content from the Call of Duty community. Tag us with your spookiest cosplay, artwork, and clips showcasing your new Halloween Event cosmetics, and you might find yourself featured in front of millions of Black Ops fans. No pressure.

Today’s update brings new Black Market content for PS4 players with the introduction of Special Orders, plus a new bonus for Black Ops Pass owners on all platforms, a host of stability improvements on PC, and more. Read on below for the full list of updates.

COD Points are also now live on PS4, with availability on other platforms to follow next week. COD Points can be used to acquire additional Nebulium Plasma in Zombies, advance through cosmetic Black Market Tiers, and access new Special Orders in the Black Market. Note: COD Points availability will be rolling out globally throughout the day on PS4.

Call of Duty Points (CoD Points) now live on PS4 – Here’s what you can buy

Call of Duty Points (CoD Points) now live on PS4 - Here's what you can buy 15

Call of Duty Points (CoD Points) are now live in Black Ops 4. They can be purchased using in-game interface or via the PlayStation 4 Store. The currency is currently only available on the PS4 and will debut on the Xbox One and PC later on November 7th due to the 7-day exclusivity agreement Sony has with Activision.

CoD points can be used to purchase Special Orders or buying tiers of in-game events like Operation: First Strike. They can be used in two ways at the moment and will likely expand to fulfill other purchases later on. There are currently two Special Orders on the Black Market, which are Bombero (800 CP) and Covert (500CP). They include a series of cosmetic items like skins for weapons and outfits.

Call of Duty Points (CoD Points) now live on PS4 - Here's what you can buy 16

Special Orders are just temporarily in the Black Market and will be on rotation to be replaced with others, so act fast if you’re interested in getting the rewards. Players can also use their CoD Points to buy tiers in Operation: First Strike to unlock was offered in higher tiers sooner rather than griding out the hours.

Each tier costs 100CP and all tiers must be bought in order. Players must buy all of the locked tiers that come before each tier, so the cost will increase exponentially. Tier 200 from Tier 1 costs 20K CoD Points.

The max tier of the First Strike is 200, and additional tiers will show afterward. Players need to work their way up the tiers to unlock the “hidden” tiers- up to 250 with 25 at a time.

Players can buy CP with real-life cash in-game or via PS Store. All CP leftover from the previous Call of Duty games can be transferred to BO4 and all players who bought the Blacks Ops Pass will get 1000 CP with 300 Nebulium Plasma. Players who bought the Digital Standard Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition, Digital Deluxe Enhanced, Pro Edition, or Mystery Box Edition will get their extra CP in-game with various amounts.

Treyarch is a little late with the CP going live– but better late than never.

Capcom unveils “Classic Costumes” for Resident Evil 2 remake

Capcom unveils "Classic Costumes" for Resident Evil 2 remake 17

Capcom is giving Resident Evil 2 fans a real treat for Halloween.

A new trailer released this morning shows off new, classic costumes that both Leon and Claire will be able to wear from the original Resident Evil 2 game in this RE2 remake. Both characters have their character models overhauled completely with costumes from the original game. But the costumes have a twist.

They’re not identical to RE2, but rather, new suits using the same textures and patterns that any original fan will recognize.

These outfits are part of a lineup of other unlockable costumes in Resident Evil 2 remake that players can get for free. No microtransactions or DLC needed. Any RE fan will go for these Halloween treats- no tricks.

You can see the costumes in action dubbed the “Classic Costumes” in the trailer here:

Resident Evil 2 remake will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC January 25, 2019. With all the anticipation surrounding the remake, Capcom is expecting high sales for the game.

Streamer Johnny_Now about to complete 30 days of being locked in a cage

Streamer Johnny_Now about to complete 30 days of being locked in a cage 18

A Twitch streamer under the handle Johnny_Now is almost done with his 30-day challenge of being locked in a cage. We wrote about his feat earlier when he was just starting, and now he’s about to complete his challenge.

A 30-day feat in a confined area with only access to his computer and a supply of basic necessities provided by a helper in an attempt to cure his addictions is about to be completed. He’s writing a book to document his progress entitled Into the Cage: Freeing Yourself Within. He believes this process is a self-improvement program which will help him stop his addiction like junk food and soda.

You can watch some popular clips here and here.

He’s “hopelessly addicted to food” and “hopelessly addicted to sugar.” He believes that securing himself in a small human hampster-like cage just may help him be free from his vices. He turns to imprison himself to break free. He plans to change careers before his “next adventure.” He also appeared on Rajj Patel’s dating show but had a tough time with the girls on there.

Johnny has not confirmed that the cage will be unlocked on November 2, 2018, at 9 PM ET. He’ll have a part surrounded by his friends. Hopefully, he doesn’t relapse during this party.

You can also keep up with Johnny’s progress here.

Old-School RuneScape comes out on mobile

Old-School RuneScape comes out on mobile 19

Old-school RuneScape (OSRS) launched for mobile platforms today on both iOS and Android. The game comes with cross-platform support and allows players to reminisce in the nostalgia of woodcutting, frustrating, or fishing. Players can even play with their PC account of OSRS and use the same character by synching their accounts.

The game originates from a mouse/keyboard combo, so on the phone, controls will be a little different. Jagex wanted to preserve the mobile experience as much as possible, as they said in a dev blog back in August:

We want to make OS Mobile feel as much like you’d naturally expect from a mobile app as possible; sliding in a direction to rotate the camera, pinching to zoom and quick touch gestures to interact with entities or open a menu.

The game is free to play and is a near perfect replica of the PC version. There are currently two other versions: Old-School RuneScape and RuneScape. Old-school RuneScape is the 2007 version of the MMORPG and RuneScape is the enhanced version running on an HTML5 client. But they both share the same gameplay principles, but vary in quests, armor, skills and more. There’s also a paid version that has exclusive content.

Even though RuneScape still has a raging fanbase, it’s not nearly as popular as it once one. OSRS has about 100K players, while the new RuneScape has just 30K recently. The mobile version should get some players back as its a modern engine to render the game in a portable way.

For players looking to get back into RuneScape on the go, try out RuneScape mobile.

Version 1.04 now live for Black Ops 4 on consoles; PC update tomorrow

Version 1.04 now live for Black Ops 4 on consoles; PC update tomorrow 20

Treyarch stated that they’ll be releasing a major update about a week ago following the last major update for Black Ops 4, which took place on October 24th. No date was specified, but it appears that the BO4 update went live today, October 30th, on consoles.

Update 1.04 went live on Xbox One and PS4 today with Treyarch confirming on their official Twitter account that the PC won’t go live until Halloween- October 31st.

The Xbox version weighs just 12.36GB and the PS4 version is about 11GB. Version 1.04 is a pretty big update and many changes have been added to the game (which you can view below).

The most notable change to the game was weapons balancing with ARs gettings nerfs and SMGs gettings buffs to even out the game’s weaponry. Other changes include weapon attachments, specialists, gear, and perks with various items getting buffs and nerfs to balance the game.

Blackout and Zombies both got minor changes to balance out the gameplay. This is the largest update to date so far for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

    • MX9
      • Extended all damage ranges.

  • Shotguns
    • This weapon class is close to where we want it, with only a couple of specific Attachments performing better than intended. Shotguns in Black Ops 4 play a different role than in past Call of Duty titles, and those who have practiced cat-and-mouse gameplay can be highly effective with them.

      • We want to encourage Nomad to work more closely with his K9-Unit to maximize effectiveness.
      • Reduced K9-Unit health by 10%.
    • Crash

      • Increased Purifier flame damage to be a guaranteed eventual kill against a player who doesn’t have Tactical Mask equipped.

      • Reduced Sensor Dart duration.
      • Resolved an issue where voiceover would incorrectly state that the player’s Sensor Dart was destroyed.

      • Tuned spawn logic around how enemies impact where the game chooses to respawn the player.
      • Spawn adjustments made for Slums, Summit, Militia, and Firing Range.

      • Tuned spawn logic tuning around how the active Hardpoint affects nearby spawns. This should provide more predictable spawns when battling over an active Hardpoint.
      • Additional global spawn adjustments to improve the ability for a player to anchor a location for their team’s respawns relative to an active Hardpoint.
      • Spawn adjustments made for Frequency and Seaside.

    • Acoustic Sensor
      • Reduced the range at which sprinting enemies are detected.
  • Perks
    • Dead Silence
      • Reduced player movement volume and distance that players equipped with Dead Silence can be heard by enemies. The intention for Dead Silence is not to be completely silent, but also not to allow enemies to hear your movement from longer distances.

      • Extraction helicopter in Heist will no longer be highlighted by the Engineer Perk.
  • Scorestreaks
    • Mantis
      • Resolved an issue where the Mantis could be destroyed by touching the Out-Of-Bounds area of a map.

    • Miscellaneous
      • Several map fixes to address exploits that allowed players to leave the intended play space.
  • Theater
    • Theater files recorded before this update will no longer be viewable due to significant architectural changes to the system. As noted in our previous major update, we will make every effort to keep instances of incompatibility to a minimum.
    • Added a watermark in the HUD that only displays when in Theater mode.
      • Why this change? We often see players posting videos recorded from Theater as a demonstration of “poor hit detection” or other issues that appear to be incorrect. While Theater represents what happened in a match in a general sense, it does not reflect with 100% accuracy all of the details as they were experienced live. Live recorded gameplay footage is the more accurate method for reporting behavior in the game that is not performing as expected. With this change, we can better identify Theater clips when reviewing community videos and therefore filter them out for the more accurate live recorded clips.

Xbox Live Games with Gold – Battlefield 1 and Assassin’s Creed

Xbox Live Games with Gold - Battlefield 1 and Assassin's Creed 21

This month’s lineup of free games for Xbox Gold members is a decent one- with three AAA titles and one indie game. The marquee titles this time around is Battlefield 1, which is now free and even had the Premium Pass for free many times before.

The games are as follows:

  • Battlefield 1 (base game)
  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Race the Sun
  • Dante’s Inferno

DICE has been very generous as of late probably to get players hooked and ready for Battlefield V, which is just around the corner and players have been excited about the game.

Assassin’s Creed (the original) is also available this month and has changed so much in the past decade. Gamers can revisit the first game ever made in the long-running list of entries to experience where it all came from.

Dante’s Inferno is the next game on the list- a God of War-like action RPG with tons of hack-and-slash combat and difficult yet epic battles.

Last on the list is Race the Sun, an indie endless runner.

Battlefield 1 will be available to XBL Gold members for the entire month, with Race the Sun being available in the second half alongside Dante’s Inferno. Assassin’s Creed will be available alongside BF1– all in time for Thanksgiving.

Thank you, Microsoft. This lineup is pretty decent compared to the recent months. Perhaps they’ll

New titles coming to Xbox Games Pass; Sniper Elite 4, Sheltered, and more

New titles coming to Xbox Games Pass; Sniper Elite 4, Sheltered, and more 22

Microsoft has now announced a new batch of games which will be coming to Xbox Game Pass to start off the month. Xbox Game Pass is a subscription-based program that offers a rotating library of games for $9.99 a month. You can think of it as the Netflix of Xbox.

The most noteworthy title coming soon is Sniper Elite 4– which is the most recent entry in the series which was released just last year in 2017. The other games are indie skateboarding game Olli Olli 2 XL Edition and the post-apocalyptic game Sheltered. Lastly, Rise and Shine and Grip: Combat Racing will be the final additions.

Microsft has said that these titles won’t be the only game hitting the program as they have some hidden surprises to reveal during XO18, which will be shown off in a special edition of Inside Xbox during XO18.

This is a lot of good news for Game Pass, as it’s obvious Microsoft is trying to promote the program aggressively. With special entry offers and even rumors that they’re incorporating the service for PC gamers, it must be very profitable. Though we’re not sure when this will take place, we can keep our eyes peeled for an announcement at XO18.

Capcom has “high expectations” for Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5

Capcom has "high expectations" for Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 23

Capcom released its financial reports for the first half of 2018 and all seemed like positive results so far. Profits grew over time even with the closure of Capcom Vancouver and the project they were working on. Capcom’s Digital Contents division saw a 70% year-over-year increase in H1 earnings with net profit going up 97% due to many titles being successful throughout the year.

Thus, Capcom’s Early 2019 releases Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 yield “high expectations” from the company. Capcom is having a good year and is hoping to end it out with two strong releases and re-affirmed the fact that all of its previous titles performed well, like Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. The Japanese company said that some games were successful due to a “dedicated fan base and strong brand capabilities” with others seeing “robust sales owing to its consistent popularity.”

Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are no expectations for Capcom- both have strong fan bases and are expected to sell very well. The titles were positively received when demonstrated at the Tokyo Game Show last month.

Resident Evil 2 releases for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on January 26th, 2019. And Devil May Cry 5 releases on the same platforms on March 8th, 2018. Capcom is expecting both games to do very well, and we’ll see how it meets their expectations soon enough.

No Man’s Sky update “The Abyss” goes live today; Get the details

No Man's Sky update "The Abyss" goes live today; Get the details 24

Hello Games announced earlier this month that No Man’s Sky will be getting a free content pack update called The Abyss. Other than a spooky and ominous background splash art for the event, not much else was said. Sean Murray said that it “focuses on some of the eerier elements of No Man’s Sky, in keeping with the theme of this season.”

The update will go live for all platforms today and will be a combination of horror and underwater gameplay. This is the first titled update since NEXT was released earlier this year. There are more updates in the works and it’s nice to see Hello Games keeping their fans happy with free content updates. The Abyss will bring aquatic environments with a ton more variety, creature behavior pattern updates, and a redone UI when underwater.

Some rare, exotic biomes are also available for the explorer as you swim around. There are also more frequent creatures lurking around the depths with some nasty ones on the ocean floor. You’ll also find sunken wrecks with possible treasures or abandoned buildings that have been submerged with water. With the terrain manipulator, you can excavate hidden treasures. Players will also be able to fix broken ships and recommission them once again.

The Abyss will also have a new story called The Dreams of the Deep, which brings a new, but a dark narrative to the game. Players will find out what happened to a troubled crew when their ship went awry.

Players will also get access to a new submarine type Exocrat called the Nautilon, which can be summoned to any ocean in the world and docked at underwater ports. The ship can be customized to your liking. There have also been a dozen new base parts added to the game for further underwater construction.

Marine shelters, glass corridors, and viewing bays will also be available for players. Multistory submersible view domes are also new and awesome which lets players get large viewing windows to view outside. And there’s an indoor aquarium to top it off.

The Abyss update for No Man’s Sky goes live today. No Man’s Sky is available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. You can view the trailer for the update following this article.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood or Wolfenstein III could be coming to Nintendo Switch

Wolfenstein: Youngblood or Wolfenstein III could be coming to Nintendo Switch 26

Wolfenstein: Youngblood has been confirmed for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. But the Switch so far hasn’t gotten any word about a release yet.

But GameSpot recently stated that Bethesda Marketing Executive Pete Hines said that “the next Wolfenstein game” is also coming to the Switch at PAX Aus. Besides Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Bethesda has already said that Wolfenstein III is on the way, but no platforms have been confirmed yet.

Bethesda has been trying to bring all of their new games to the Nintendo Switch if possible, and this could be mean that the Switch will be receiving both Wolfenstein games. Doom Eternal will also be available on the hybrid handheld.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood will release sometime n 2019 and has been confirmed for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC so far. But don’t be surprised to see it on the Switch.

Fallout 76 won’t be coming to the Switch – Not “doable.”

Fallout 76 won't be coming to the Switch - Not "doable." 27

Bethesda has been kind to Nintendo recently by releasing major titles on the Switch. Games like Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Skyrim, Doom Eternal, and what more could you ask for? Doom Eternal will even be available on the Switch on launch day. But Fallout 76 won’t be ported to the Switch.

Bethesda Marketing Executive Pete Hines at PAX Aus said the following statement:

“The Switch is something I can say with certainty that it’s a part of every conversation with every dev we have now about what we’re doing going forward because we consider it to be a viable platform. If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible. Fallout 76 is not because it just wasn’t doable. But honestly, there is no game in development that we haven’t had a conversation about. ‘Does this work on the Switch, do you have a plan for the Switch?’ It’s not a mandate. Everything we do has to be developer-led, but it’s something we want to make sure is on folks’ radar.”

He also clarified that Bethesday will follow the money, and the Switch is where it’s at. He also said the following:

“You go where the money is because that’s how you stay in business. What we have seen compels us to say, ‘[Switch] is a viable platform for the kind of things we do going forward.”

Bethesda wants to be on the Switch if possible, but not all the games they release can be ported to the Switch. The previous games have been doing well for Bethesda, but the Switch just won’t be “doable” this time around. Perhaps sometime in the future they can port some older titles over and make them profitable once again. As for Fallout 76, the Switch won’t be getting a release at this time.

Resident Evil, RE: 0, and RE: 4 coming to the Nintendo Switch

Resident Evil, RE: 0, and RE: 4 coming to the Nintendo Switch 28

Capcom USA announced a new trio of Resident Evil games for the Nintendo Switch. The tweet stated that a new slew of titles will be ported to the Switch throughout 2019, with more information about the games coming soon.

The titles are as follows:

  • Resident Evil
  • Resident Evil 0
  • Resident Evil 4

These titles will be joining the already released Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 on the Switch that are already released to the console representing the most popular horror franchise of all time. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will also roll out on the Switch in Japan via streaming.

Resident Evil was the game that launched the whole zombie horror genre and defined the genre, arguably, for the PlayStation way back in 1996. The original game was given a remastered re-released in 2002 for GameCube. The game is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Resident Evil 0 is the fifth main entry in the long-running series and serves as a prequel to the original Resident Evil. The game was released for GameCube initially and was given an HD remaster and released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The remastered of RE: 0 and RE are also available as the Resident Evil Origins Collection of specific consoles.

Resident Evil 4 is probably the best of the series and the most popular with all-star Leon Kennedy. The game helped bring the series back to the survival horror genre that Capcom strayed from. Released in 2005 for GameCube, it was later ported to the PlayStation 2 and was also ported again and again for later generations. The game can be played on basically every console besides the 3DS- even mobile devices.

Capcom hasn’t said anything about the upcoming 2019 remaster of Resident Evil 2 for the Switch at at this time. Stay tuned for some spooky details.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 will have online multiplayer, voice chat, and customization

Dragon Quest Builders 2 will have online multiplayer, voice chat, and customization 29

Dragon Quest Builders 2 will have online multiplayer that supports up to 4 players online. You can travel, quest, and adventure together in the game’s huge overworld.

Players can use the game’s vehicle to move around the world quickly, which can transport all 4 players to make travel very easy for all players and eliminates wasted time and speeds up the game’s actual action segments. Just like travel in real life, I’d rather quick travel in-game whenever possible.

Building lets players show off their creations to other players and can be set to be non-destructible so other trolls can’t destroy your creations. Builders can communicate online via gestures if voice chat isn’t available to you. The game will also have a dresser to let you customize your unique look. Multiplayer is a welcome addition to the game as four players will allow for larger projects and obviously more fun.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be released on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on December 20th in Japan. Localization to the US still hasn’t been announced yet. Dragon Quest Builders 1 is already available for a ton of platforms including PS4, PS Vita, and the Switch.

New Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown trailer released; Skill trees, customization, and VR 30

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe released a new trailer for Ace Combat 7: Skies Uknown that features a bunch of new aircraft customization options. The video shows off the new aircraft tree, which seems to look similar to a skill tree found in many games you’d see today, such as RPGs and shooters.

The F-140 fighter jet demos being purchased using AC7‘s in-game currency. Then the jet was shown in action firing off the 8AAM air-to-air missiles that were purchased in the aircraft tree. The AC-130 was also purchased in the trailer and shows off the vast amount of customization options for weapons. Everything from choosing a jet, missile types, and body/arm styles for the fighter jet. Then, some skin emblems are shown that can be unlocked by completing some challenges- without the need for microtransactions!

Ace Combat 7: Skies Uknown will include a free copy of a previous Ace Combat game depending on the console you buy it on. The game also has a VR mode that was delayed for an announcement, but has now been confirmed for the game.

The game will release for PS4 and Xbox One on January 18 and February 1st for PC via Steam.

Fortnite data miners uncover a “Bunnymoon” costume

Fortnite data miners uncover a "Bunnymoon" costume 31

Data miners are on a roll with Fortnite. First, the mining of a possible gifting option for Fortnite. Now, another Fortnite skin has been revealed ahead of its official release into the game.

Pretty much like any other major Fortnite update, a long list of skins and cosmetics are leaked and spread all over the ‘net in a viral craze. During the V6.20 update, a list was compiled and a few skins were on it that struck some interest. A new skin called Bunnymoon was found in patch 6.20, but only the name was found.

As you can see, the costume is certainly a weird one.

A user called Blackopbeast34 has then uncovered what the name is tied to- it’s a bunny suit with the whole ears and rabbit outfit complete together in one packet. And it’s Uncommon. The skin follows the Halloween Fortnitemare theme as previously laked skins that were found with the previous patch.

Epic Games hasn’t confirmed whether these leaks are real or not, but they’re expected to show up in the shop soon enough.
